It is understood that 1 Cor 7:10 states that wives must not separate from their husbands and husbands must not divorce their wives because in that culture and historical time, a woman had no authority or vehicle by which to initiate a divorce. Therefore separation was the best that she could do. It would seem though that the marriage covenant was in place regardless of the action because it is written that one must remain unmarried or be reconciled to your spouse. There is no provision for a believing couple to divorce and then remarry. In doing so this would open the door to a contrivance of events or thoughts. I would think that the insolubility of the union is the strength of the covenant. What are your thoughts?
